Usually, water does contain hydrogen. A molecule of ordinary water consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, and they are strongly bound together.
However, in HYDROGEN WATER, there is molecular hydrogen (H₂) — free, unbound hydrogen gas dissolved in water. This form of hydrogen is not the same as the hydrogen already bound in H₂O.
In medicine, one of the most important parameters of liquids for humans is their “charge”, which is defined as the redox potential. For long and healthy longevity, this charge must be negative. The most common way to produce molecular hydrogen is:
1. Chemical reaction of water with metals (usually magnesium) or metal hydrides;
2. REM electrolysis of water (the cost of a number of devices starts at $100).
Hydrogen-rich water gradually loses its active properties when exposed to air.
After you pour it into another container, it keeps its molecular hydrogen, negative ORP and elevated pH for about 2–3 hours, provided the bottle is sealed.
